I have been slacking on my blog, not because we have been doing nothing, but because I have been napping it is true, I am nearly 29 weeks along and we play hard in the mornings then we nap/ have quiet time and play some more trying to get all we can out of the beautiful summer we are having, so we have been doing park adventures with our friends, we went to the water park no pictures of that though, we have been potty training and are 9 days accident free! WOOT WOOT, Addy has been to a number of camps this last one was handwriting camp she did so good! We went to a baseball game,To see the BYU I dancers and to Chuck E Cheese (which was a reward for Addy) The rest of our summer is packed, and is going by so fast, I just can't believe it. With all our other fun we have been having we managed to fit in a couple camping trips, the first one was just one night, and a good thing it was, the trip was going great, the kids love the outdoors, but alas Addy burned her hand on a smore stick, Doug roasted a marshmallow for her then handed her the stick she grabbed it at the handle than used her other hand and put it up high to get the marshmallow off, grabbing the stick and getting 4 large blisters in the process, it made for a rough night, but once we got through the initial pain, we were able to recover the trip, she did however note to me the next time we go camping she would like to do it in the back yard.....Poor girl
The kids helped Doug set up the tent, we didn't realize there was a rally happening in town that weekend so good thing we had booked a site, we only saw and heard the bikers when we were in town so it really wasn't too big a deal.
Happy Campers, the kids love, love LOVE tents, they are so funny, if only they would stay in their sleeping bags...
We went for a short hike up to a lake, it was lovely, there were oodles of fish in the lake
and the water was perfect for playing in, we hadn't planned on going in the water so we just improvised and went in with our clothes on, the kids thought that was great
A couple weekends later we went again but for two nights this time, the weather has cooled off here significantly and we could actually see our breathe at night, so between that and my pregnant self about ready to call it what it is with sleeping on the ground this was probably our last trip for the summer at least in the tent. The stars were breathtaking though, so amazing, truly what I needed to just be able to enjoy the great outdoors, AHHHH so nice. Our second trip went better but we still had incident, the kids really like to throw rocks, and my word if you can't throw them while camping in the great outdoors when can you? Well lesson learned when one is throwing rocks at trees they may ricochet back at you and hit you in the head. James has a nice welt to show it. Our second trip we had grandma and grandpa tag along with us, which was so fun! We love having them join our fun, the kids even got to sleep in their trailer with them so double bonus for us. Doug put up his hammock this trip and the three of them enjoyed it oft.
Grandpa brought really big marshmallows, the kids we super excited about that, they now opt to do smores in the raw form, Ie no roasting or toasting just marshmallows and chocolate chunks for them...LOL
Daddy the fire master, we were able to get the kids around the fire and to still enjoy it, even with the mishap of the burn last time, so we are back on track there. Doug did great keeping us warm with the fire and cooking the meals we were in charge of .
The kids and their raw smores
Addy what a trooper, she was nervous about going camping again, the burn the first go around was rather traumatic but all and all they had a great time, we went to the lake again, and did some little hikes, we also went into town again, the second morning was kind of short, we cooked breakfast and broke camp then headed home, we were able to get the kids cleaned up, napped and dressed for church without being late, James did not want to wake up but it worked out. It helps that with all the changes that just happened in our stake our new ward now meets at 230, might be the only time I ever say it is nice, LOL and helped that we only had sacrament meeting while they are organizing the ward as it is brand new, so weird.
We do all love the outdoors, and had so much fun on our camping adventures, I am sad to say goodbye to them till next year, but alas it is what it is, on to other adventures...
